Under general supervision, ensures the safety of patrons of an aquatic facility by preventing and responding to emergencies. A Lifeguard must have knowledge of water hazards, lifesaving techniques and first aid, recognize hazardous situations, and adopt effective courses of action. The Lifeguard must also have effective communication skills and engage positively with the public.
Include the following, and other duties may be assigned.
Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency.
Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service.
Performs various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
Prepares and maintains appropriate activity reports.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Attend scheduled in-service training.

Lifeguards must be expert swimmers, be in excellent physical condition, and be able to react quickly in emergency situations.
The minimum qualification for the position is a Red Cross Advanced Lifesaving certificate, which requires thirty-two units of instruction in water safety. After receiving this instruction prospective lifeguards must prove their knowledge of water safety by demonstrating the proper techniques of approach and rescue.
Every three years lifeguards must take a refresher course to renew the certificate.
Education And/Or
Experience:
Experience in USA as a Lifeguard, American Red Cross Certified.
Language Skills:
Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Also have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence, and to speak effectively before groups of customers or team members of organization.
Mathematical Skills:
Must have the ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Must be able to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Abilities:
Position requires the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. As well as, the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, First Aid, CPR- for the professional Rescuer, and AED certification is required to perform the essential duties of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required regularly to stand; use hands to grasp, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The team member is frequently required to walk and must occasionally sit, climb, or balance. The team member must regularly talk to guest and owners as well as hear what others are saying.
The team member must regularly lift and/ or move supplies/ equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, as well as, occasionally lift and/or move up to/over 100 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, and peripheral vision along with depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The team member is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The team member is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic, or caustic chemicals, and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
